EXPORTING THE FIRST PASSION FRUIT CONTAINER TO EUROPE

On the afternoon of September 16, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) coordinated with the People's Committee of Gia Lai province, and Dong Giao Foodstuff Export Joint Stock Company (Mang Yang district, Gia Lai province) to hold a ceremony to announce the export of the first passion fruit container Europe under the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the European Union (EVFTA). 

This is the first shipment of passion fruit from Vietnam to the EU market after the EVFTA Agreement took effect on August 1, 2020. In this first export, Doveco exported a shipment of 100 tons of passion fruit to The Netherlands.

Deputy Minister Le Quoc Doanh and delegates cut the ribbon to issue orders to depart the containers of passion fruit to Europe under the EVFTA Agreement.

At the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Quoc Doanh highly appreciated the efforts of Dong Giao Food Export Joint Stock Company - one of the leading enterprises in Vietnam in the field of production, processing and export agricultural products, especially fruit. With passion fruit products, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development expects that the company will continue to develop sustainably and effectively, expand production and processing scale, gradually expand and dominate the international market, affirmed the quality and a solid position for Vietnamese agriculture in the international market.
 
In general, in order for the fruit and vegetable industry to dominate the international market, especially the EU market, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Doanh emphasized that localities, especially Gia Lai province, continue to create favorable conditions for fruit and vegetable processing enterprises to  invest in the expansion of deep-processing factories, participate in value chain, build raw material areas and product offtake contract, guide, propagate, advocate and adopt policies to encourage farmers to grow raw material in accordance with food safety and EU requirements; strengthen inspection and supervision of compliance with regulations in production, harvesting, preliminary processing, preservation and processing, , agricultural materials and intellectual property of Fruit and vegetable products to develop sustainably and effectively in their locality. 
 
In the past five years, Vietnam's passion fruit output and export turnover has increased by more than 300%, putting Vietnam in the top 10 largest passion fruit exporting countries in the world, after Brazil, Peru, and Ecuador. Currently, Vietnamese passion fruit has been exported to markets with strict requirements on quality, quarantine and food safety such as: France, Germany, Netherlands, Korea, Taiwan (China), Switzerland. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is negotiating to open the market for fresh passion fruit to other major markets such as Australia, China, Japan and Thailand.
 
Currently, products of Doveco have been present in more than 60 countries, conquering fastidious markets such as the US, Japan, China and especially Europe. Products from passion fruit are mainly produced at Doveco Gia Lai factory such as: passion fruit concentrate, NFC passion fruit juice and frozen passion fruit pulp, which are currently the main products, accounting for more than 50% of the total Company export value. In addition, the Company is actively growing fresh fruits according to European export standards such as: fresh bananas, passion fruit and especially MD2 pineapple.
 
After the ceremony, the delegates visited passion fruit seed production area, passion fruit processing and packaging factory for export at Doveco Fruit and Vegetable Processing Center of Dong Giao Food Export Joint Stock Company.
